Police: 3 shot in drug deal gone bad

Three men received gunshot wounds — one of them to his chest and another to his neck — in a Saturday night shooting that police describe as a drug deal gone bad.

The men were at a Ticknor Drive address around 7 p.m. when the shooting happened, said Columbus Police Lt. John McMichael.

“Something went wrong with the deal,” he added. “Shots were exchanged.”

One of the men, Rodney London, 21, got hit in the finger. He awaits a Recorder’s Court hearing at 9 a.m. Monday on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, McMichael said.

A 20-year-old man police say was involved in the shooting was struck in the neck, left calf and buttocks. He remained in the hospital Sunday night, though McMichael said he has two pending charges of aggravated assault. He is in stable condition, the lieutenant added.

A 19-year-old man struck three times in the chest was not charged. That man is in stable condition, the lieutenant said.
