High court upholds Columbus murder conviction

The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld the murder conviction of a woman found guilty by a Muscogee County jury in January.

Diana Branchfield, 48, was found guilty of felony murder, armed robbery and a weapons charge for the August 2007 death of truck driver John Beflance, 52. Branchfield appealed to the high court, arguing that not enough evidence existed for her to be found guilty, that the judge should have granted a mistrial and that the judge made mistakes when telling jurors the law.

All the justices disagreed and found that no error had occurred, a Monday opinion states.
