Counterinsurgency strategist to speak at CSU

Conrad Crane, the lead author of the Army and Marine Corps' recently revised counterinsurgency field manual, will speak on Thursday at Columbus State University.

The 7:30 p.m. program in the Cunningham Center is free and open to the public.

The military historian and retired Army Colonel will give a speech "Exorcising Old Demons and Discovering New Ones: Using History to Make History in American Counterinsurgency."

Crane, who has a Ph.D in history from Stanford University, presently directs the U.S. Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. He previously taught at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point.
