Running to raise awareness of mental health issues

Guy Fessenden of Hartsdale, New York, crests a hill late last week while running west along Highway 80 in Ladonia, Alabama. Fessenden passed through the Chattahoochee Valley as part of a cross-country run to raise awareness and money for treating mental illness. Fessenden, who said his daughter Suzanne has battled schizophrenia and depression since she was a teenager, began his run on Tybee Island and plans to run 100 marathons in 140 days before finishing in Los Angeles. His schedule is to run 3 marathons over three days, take a rest day, and then start the cycle over. He has just finished his 14th marathon in Montgomery, Alabama and will be leaving for Jackson, Mississippi today.
