At week seven, the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley reported Thursday it's met 42 percent of its $6.5 million goal.
At this point last year, 36 percent had been achieved.
"We are seeing more optimism this year than last," said Tim Mescon, United Way campaign chair and president of Columbus State University.
The local United Way covers seven counties in Georgia and one in Alabama.
