A man initially thought by a passing driver to be drunk turned out to a gunshot victim who stumbled onto Buena Vista Road late Saturday, Columbus police said.
According to Lt. Lynn Joiner, a driver spotted the 29-year-old man around 11 p.m. at Buena Vista Road and Annette Avenue. The man walked as if he was drunk, falling onto Buena Vista.
“They got out to see if he was OK, and they saw he was bleeding,” Joiner said.
That’s when the driver called 911. The man was taken to The Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit, where he hasn’t yet been able to speak with police, Joiner said.
The man has gunshot wounds in his leg, arm and chest. Joiner said the arm and chest wounds may be from the same bullet.
Joiner said a witness spotted two men running north on Annette shortly after hearing gunshots. Both were 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9. One wore a tan T-shirt and the other a black T-shirt.
No arrests have been made in the case, the lieutenant said.
