Columbus crime: Man robbed of clothes

A suspect took the clothes off a man’s back in an early Sunday robbery, Columbus police said.

Officers responded to a report of a man walking around the Circle K, 2233 Fort Benning Road, in only his boxers around 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, an officer fluent in Spanish spoke to the man, who can’t speak English, reports state.

According to police, the 19-year-old told officers that he was near Eagle Trace Apartments as he walked home when the suspect approached, said he was a police officer and then told him to hand over some money. The teen told the suspect he didn’t have any cash, and that’s when the suspect told him to take off his clothes.

After the teen removed his T-shirt, shorts and sandals, the suspect picked them up and pushed him to the ground. The suspect then ran from the area. The suspect never showed a weapon during the incident, police said.

Police said that the teen was very intoxicated when they spoke with him.

The suspect is a black man, 6-foot-2, with short hair and a blue T-shirt, reports state.
