Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 3 Episode 6: LaTavia Roberson from Destiny's Child shows up

Did the ring really not mean a thing? Can doctors really induce labor at seven months? Was anyone really brave enough to buy a wig at Kim Zolciak's yard sale?

Those questions dominated this week's episode of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," which premiered at at its new Sunday time slot.

Here's a recap of the show:

***

Kandi Burruss works with Lawrence, a singer who's also Sheree's hair stylist. She wants him to become RuPaul for the new generation. She envisions him singing a song that's heavy on the phrase "closet freak."

Kim Zolciak, Kandi's other aspiring singer, doesn't have too much faith in Lawrence. She also doesn't have too much faith in Kandi's vision for "The Ring Didn't Mean a Thing," Kim's next single.

The song isn't exactly in Kim's range. I'm putting things kindly. Naturally, the studio session is a disaster. I'm half expecting Simon Cowell to walk in and utter some lines about killing puppies.

Kandi opts for a more compassionate approach. "To be honest, you do have an ear problem," Kandi tells Kim. She encourages some voice lessons.

Instead, she turns her attention to a yard sale. Yes, you read that correctly. Kim hosts a garage sale, but her labor consists of drinking wine at 9 a.m. Another problem? Her prices are somewhat inflated. Fortunately, her dad's on the scene and ready to serve up some good bargains. NeNe buys an $1,800 bedroom set that Kim claims originally cost $20,000. At one point, Kim's dad says the yard sale made over $10,000.

Then, Kandi shows up. Kim breaks some tough news. She doesn't like "The Ring Didn't Mean a Thing." Privately, Kandi tells us Kim can say whatever she wants but, "raise your hand if you have a Grammy." (Insert Kandi's raised hand here.)

The conversation concludes awkwardly, with Kandi urging Kim to take voice lessons.

Cynthia Bailey hangs out with the father of her daughter. They were once engaged and now apparently just have an amazing relationship. They have a vague conversation about Cynthia's non-engagement to Peter, her current fling.

She addresses the topic with Peter, who confesses he's afraid she won't go through with the wedding. He says he'll give her a ring, but it'll be a surprise.

NeNe Leakes tries to get her son Bryson back on the right track. She sets up a meeting with Cynthia Bailey's boyfriend, Peter, to help him get a club promoting gig.

Let's not forget about NeNe's struggling marriage. She tries to discuss the situation with Kim, but Kim just changes the topic to Big Poppa and "The Ring Didn't Mean a Thing." (For the record, NeNe's not too keen on Kandi's vision, either.)

Cynthia Bailey offers a more sympathetic ear while listening to NeNe's problems. NeNe and her husband Gregg invite Cynthia and Peter over for dinner, in a night that's designed as career guidance for Bryson.

Unsurprisingly, things quickly turn to NeNe and Gregg's marriage. They fight in front of Cynthia and Peter, and NeNe insinuates that Gregg cheated on her. Of course, it's important to mention that lots of alcohol is involved. A sample line from NeNe: "I'm going to divorce Gregg. Now where the %! is my drink at?"

Phaedra Parks meets with LaTavia Roberson, a former Destiny Child member who apparently had a downward spiral after leaving the group. Phaedra wants to help LaTavia start a one-woman show. Her motives aren't exactly selfless. "When my clients make money, I make money," Phaedra tells us.

The details about Phaedra's pregnancy remain murky. She still vows doctors will induce labor at seven months, leading the other women to speculate she's lying about either the baby's father's identity or when she got pregnant.
