Columbus crime: Police arrest suspect who ran from officer

Columbus police say they arrested a man Monday afternoon who ran from them.

DeShawn Shorter, 18, faces a charge of obstruction of an officer for allegedly running from law enforcement around 12:45 p.m. at Victory and Benning drives, reports state.

According to police, Officer Toni Rene was looking for a suspect accused of being on someone’s property in the area of Victory and Benning drives. The officer spotted the suspect and told him she needed to talk to him.

That’s when the suspect said “no” and ran west into some woods, reports state.

The suspect was later found in the area and arrested, police said.
