Columbus crime: Suspect runs from officer after traffic stop

A Columbus man police say ran from an officer after a traffic stop faces an obstruction charge.

Police said that Jacoby Jackson, 25, was a passenger in a 1994 red Jeep Cherokee that was stopped on Fifth Avenue and Fifth Street around 1:05 a.m. Wednesday. The Jeep had a suspended Georgia tag, and the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The officer asked the driver and passenger to get out of the Jeep. As the officer tried to get the passenger’s information, he ran. The officer then chased and arrested him, reports state.

Jackson faces a charge of obstruction of an officer.
