CSU: Faculty and students visiting Japan reportedly safe

Six students and two faculty members from Columbus State University currently on a study-abroad trip to Japan have reported to university officials that they are safe and unharmed by this morning’s earthquake and subsequent tsunami, the university announced today.

The eight were not identified, but a release from CSU said, “They are optimistic that their regular travel plans will remain intact they should return to the United States on Saturday.”

Japan suffered an 8.9 magnitude earthquake early this morning, triggering tsunamis that swamped many areas in Japan and have been felt as far away as Hawaii.
