Update: Police continue their search for leads in Farley Homes murder case

Columbus police continue their search for leads in the Sunday fatal shooting of a man at Farley Homes.

Police say they're looking for three suspects in the homicide of 25-year-old Deloren Duran Mitchell, who was shot at 502B Farley Homes on Nina Street around 3 a.m. No warrants have been issued and no arrests made, said Lt. Ronald Hastings.

"We're actively working on leads as we speak," Hastings added.

Officers responded to the Nina Street housing complex about the shooting and were led by witnesses to a bedroom apartment, where they found Mitchell suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, Hastings said.

Mitchell was taken to The Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:51 a.m.

Police have no descriptions of the suspects.

A neighbor said she stepped onto the front porch of the one-story brick duplex early Sunday when she heard the sirens. Outside her front door she saw ambulances, police cars and fire trucks, she said.

She then saw the woman who lives in the apartment where the shooting took place.

“The girl, she was standing out here crying and I asked her what was going on,” said the neighbor, who declined to give her name. “She said her boyfriend was shot.”

A woman who answered the door at apartment 502B Sunday afternoon declined to talk about the shooting. Sunday’s death is the 10th homicide in Columbus this year.
