Troup County police: Man charged with trafficking cocaine

Troup County authorities arrested a 20-year-old man early Sunday on accusations of drug trafficking.

Joshua LeCameron Boyd, of Hogansville, Ga., faces one count of trafficking in cocaine. Sheriff’s deputies arrested him during a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Racetrac gas station on LaFayette Parkway in LaGrange, sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Mann said.

Deputies spotted a pickup truck driving erratically, leading them to stop the truck at the service station. Three people, including Boyd, were inside the truck and deputies spoke with all of them, Mann said.

Deputies received consent to search the three people, which led to the discovery of some $5,000 worth of suspected cocaine on Boyd. No other suspected drugs were found, the sergeant said.

Boyd was arrested. The other two occupants of the truck were warned about driving violations and allowed to leave, Mann said.
