The 2011 Atlanta Opera Ball, now in its 24th year, features the theme of "Indulge Your Senses." It begins at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in the St. Regis Atlanta, 88 W. Paces Ferry Road.
It includes a cocktail hour, silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing to the American Flyers.
Part of the evening's entertainment includes a special performance by members of the Atlanta Opera Chorus, directed by chorus master Walter Huff.
Among the auction items are a 32-inch-long necklace of natural-colored freshwater pearls; eight days at Trillium Links & Lake Club Resort for eight guests in Cashiers, N.C.; a week's stay in St. Bart's and a weekend at Reynolds Plantation with a round of golf.
Tickets are $300 and patron tickets start at $1,500. The deadline to buy tickets is 5 p.m. Sept. 8.
