Columbus police: 18-year-old found with pistol

Police say an 18-year-old was charged with having a firearm after officers responded to a group of juveniles gathered near Prado and Lafayette drives late Tuesday.

Quintavious Garner, of Columbus, is charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 21, reports state.

Police say an officer went to a Shelby Street home around 11:30 p.m. about four juveniles in someone’s yard “being smart.”

Garner was spotted in the parking lot of a park near Prado and Lafayette drives, which is close to Shelby Street, and the officer discovered he had a pistol, police said.

Police list no other information.
