Marshal's office and Krispy Kreme team up to raise money for child in need

There's still to time to grab a doughnut and coffee today while helping a child in need.

The Muscogee County Marshal's Office and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have joined forces to raise money for the purchase of a mobility stroller for seven-year-old Rhiannon Griggs, a Columbus resident with Rett Syndrome. The event began this morning and continues until 3 p.m. today at the Krispy Kreme at 6761 Veterans Parkway in Columbus.

Deputies, who dubbed themselves the "stroller strike force" have been taking turns on the Krispy Kreme roof to get motorists' attention while others collect donations. Griggs' mother, Deonna Franks, is a deputy in the Marshal's Office.

There are several donation incentives including: One free Original Glazed doughnut for a $5 donation, one free Original Glazed doughnut and free medium coffee for a donation of $15, one free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts and a Marshal's Office t-shirt for a donation of $25. There are other incentives for those giving amounts greater than $100.
