Columbus police: Homeless man arrested with $3K worth of suspected pot

A homeless man arrested Monday was found with almost $3,000 worth of suspected marijuana, Columbus police said.

James Melton, 23, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, reports state.

According to police, officers learned around 3 p.m. that Melton, who had outstanding warrants, was in the 4400 block of Third Avenue. Officers found Melton inside a home when they arrived. Police also suspected Melton had drugs nearby, and they got permission from the property owner to search the area.

That’s when they found $2,980 worth of suspected pot, reports state.
