Columbus police: 2 accused of having stolen TVs

Columbus police arrested two men on Saturday on accusations they were driving through town with stolen TVs, reports state.

Chauncey Joel Wills, 37, and Burtrum Andrus Smith, 35, each face a count of theft by receiving stolen property, police said.

According to reports, two televisions were stolen Friday from a Baker Plaza Drive apartment. On Saturday, one of the theft victim’s sons was approached by the suspects on Plateau Drive about buying the TVs.

Officers then learned the two suspects had loaded the TVs onto a white truck and were driving west on Victory Drive. Cpl. Joey Austin saw the truck about 10:15 p.m. and stopped it, police said.

Wills and Smith were then arrested, reports state.
