A Smiths Station man faces charges of attempted murder after he shot his brother in the back and face, the Lee County sheriff’s office said.
Mark Casey Eller, 26, is charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He was arrested Saturday night, about 30 minutes after he allegedly shot 31-year-old Ronnie Charles Eller Jr. in an argument about their father’s estate, Capt. Van Jackson said.
Deputies responded to a possible shooting about 6 p.m. EST Saturday at Ronnie Eller’s Lee Road 250 home. They found Ronnie Eller lying on his bathroom floor. He’d been shot several times in his upper back and once in the face, Jackson said.
A woman and her 2-year-old child were at the home when the shooting happened, though Ronnie Eller was the only one injured, Jackson added.Eller was taken to The Medical Center, where he remained Monday night in the intensive care unit, the captain added.
Deputies arrested Mark Eller at a Lee Road 430 home Saturday night. He’s being held on $75,000 bond, Jackson said.
The investigation shows that the brothers had been in an ongoing argument about their father’s estate, the captain added.
