Columbus courts: Grand jury indicts Brian McGhee, 30, on attempted murder, assault charges

Brian McGhee, accused of hitting his Lawyers Lane neighbor with a hammer in October and causing her to lose sight in one eye, was indicted Tuesday by a Muscogee County grand jury.

McGhee, 30, is charged with attempt to commit murder, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, Superior Court records state.

McGhee is accused of hitting his 24-year-old neighbor in the head with a hammer after he went to her home Oct. 24 to ask for a favor. The pair struggled after McGhee allegedly hit her, and McGhee then tried to choke her from behind, the woman told police.

She finally escaped, running outside where others came to her aid.

Investigators said the woman had 17 head lacerations that required staples. She has also permanently lost vision in her left eye.
