A 25-year-old man accused of attacking two women at Columbus State University, including one this morning, was jailed on charges of sexual battery today after one of the alleged victims reported his tag number to campus police.
Dominic J. Vidal, who does not attend the university, was booked into the Muscogee County Jail on two counts of sexual battery, authorities said.
Today's attack happened about 9 a.m., police said, as the woman was walking between Jordan Hall and an adjacent parking lot. Vidal allegedly approached the woman and grabbed her. She yelled at the man, prompting him to run to a nearby van.
The woman, whom police credited with "quick thinking," provided investigators with the man's tag number, which led them to an area off Schatulga Road. According to university police, Vidal admitted to the attack and a similar one Feb. 1.
In that attack, another female student said a man approached her about 1 p.m. outside Jordan Hall and "forcefully placed his hand between her legs" before fleeing, police said.
