A man who resisted arrest early Saturday threatened his girlfriend and police while yelling loudly outside his Maltese Drive home, Columbus police said.
Matthew Ryan Reynolds, 20, is charged with two counts of terroristic threats and one count each of simple battery, obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct, reports state.
Police responded to Reynolds’ home about 4 a.m. and found that he’d pushed his 24-year-old girlfriend out of their shared home. Officers then tried to arrest Reynolds, who resisted as they tried to handcuff him, reports state.
Officers forced Reynolds to the ground and put him in leg restraints. They then called for a van to take Reynolds away because he was very intoxicated and combative, reports state.
Police say Reynolds kept threatening to kill his girlfriend and an officer, yelling curse words and screaming as he made the threats, police said.
“He also stated in front of all officers present that we would be investigating a murder after he bonded out,” reports state.
Reynolds remained in the Muscogee County Jail Monday morning under bond.
