Columbus police: 20-year-old accused of trespassing at high school, throwing punch at officer

Columbus police say a 20-year-old man trespassed at Jordan Vocational High School Thursday morning and tried to punch a police officer.

Xavier M. Brown is charged with criminal trespass, disrupting a public school, obstruction of an officer and possession of dangerous drugs, reports state.

According to police, an officer working part time at the school was told by school officials that someone was trespassing on campus. The officer found the suspect, identified in reports as Brown, looking into classrooms and talking to students as he walked through the halls.

The officer told Brown to come to the office with him, and Brown then started cursing. The officer tried to put handcuffs on Brown, and that’s when Brown threw a punch with his left arm and pushed the officer with his right, reports state.

Brown was arrested after a brief struggle and was found with three pills, police said.
