Columbus police: Suspect wanted for armed robbery arrested, found with marijuana

A man wanted by Columbus police for a December armed robbery was arrested late Saturday and found with marijuana, reports state.

Willie James Griggs, 24, is charged with armed robbery, burglary, theft by taking, obstruction of an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

According to reports, officers spotted Griggs about 7:30 p.m. in the area of Nina Street. Officers knew Griggs had outstanding warrants and they tried to stop him.Griggs ran from police and was caught after a short foot chase. He was found with $139 worth of suspected marijuana, reports state.

Police say Griggs robbed an employee of Muggs Hot Dogs on Dec. 8.
