Columbus police: Man arrested on his birthday for hit-and-run, motor vehicle theft

Columbus police arrested a man on his birthday on charges of hit-and-run and motor vehicle theft, reports state.

Alexander Zachary Fuller, 24, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Smith Road and Interstate 185. He’s charged with DUI, theft by taking motor vehicle, hit-and-run and several traffic violations, police said.

According to reports, Fuller stole his mother’s 2004 Pontiac Grand Am about 7:55 a.m. Sunday. Fuller was in a wreck on Double Churches Road, near Whitesville Road, shortly afterward.

Fuller fled the scene and was spotted about three hours later on Interstate 185, south of Smith Road. Officers then arrested Fuller, police said.
