An Auburn teen was killed in an accidental shooting Sunday evening, police said.
According to a press release from Auburn police, officers received a report of shots fired at a residence in the 800 block of Lundsford Drive at around 7:09 p.m. As they were responding to the area, a vehicle with its emergency flashers on flagged down a patrol unit on North Donahue Drive near Greentree Terrace, police said.
Police found 15-year-old Jamon M. Baker in the car suffering from a gunshot wound and being transported to the hospital. Police said an ambulance responded and transported Baker to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m.
At this time, the shooting appears to be accidental, police said. Investigators determined that the shooting occurred inside Baker's house on Lunsford Drive.
The man police say is the shooter, 20-year-old Demario A. Pitts, later turned himself in at the Auburn police division.
