Columbus police: Suspect wanted for armed robbery found loitering

A suspect wanted for several charges, including armed robbery, was found loitering early Tuesday near Farley Homes and J.D. Davis Elementary School, reports state.

Darius West, 20, is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. West also faces charges of loitering, obstruction of an officer and possession of marijuana, police said.

Jessie Worthey, an 18-year-old who police say was with West, is charged with three misdemeanors: obstruction of an officer, possession of marijuana and loitering.

Police responded to shots fired in the Farley Homes area about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Officers searched the area and spotted West and Worthey, who ran from them. Both were caught after a brief chase and found with suspected marijuana, reports state.

Officers then checked their records and learned about West’s outstanding warrants, police said.
