Columbus police made an unrelated arrest early Tuesday as they were searching for a burglary suspect, reports state.

Police say they arrested Fredrick Huff, 44, on charges of obstruction of an officer, Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of a drug related object and a parole violation.

According to reports, someone called police about a burglary suspect in the area of Manchester Expressway and River Road. Officers spotted Huff in the area when they arrived, and they tried to speak with him.

Huff was interviewed, though at some point he ran from officers. They caught Huff, who started fighting police. Officers eventually arrested Huff and found a device used to smoke crack cocaine in his pants, police said.
