Suspect arrested on pot charge after clocked speeding by police

Columbus police arrested a man on a drug charge Tuesday afternoon after he was clocked speeding and then ran from his vehicle, reports state.

Anthony M. Meredith, 20, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, speeding, obstruction of an officer, driving while his license was suspended and a seat belt violation, police said.

According to reports, Meredith was driving his car south on Floyd Road near Burbank Street about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when an officer clocked him doing 52 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police stopped Meredith, who pulled into a nearby parking lot and ran from his vehicle.

Police arrested Meredith and found almost 2 ounces of suspected marijuana in his car, reports state.
