Columbus police: Man runs from traffic stop, busted for open container, suspended license

A man who ran from police during a traffic stop was later found with an open beer in his car, Columbus police said.

David Thomas, 30, was stopped on 43rd Street about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday for traffic violations. He got out of his 1994 Honda Accord and started running before an officer reached the car. Thomas ran about a quarter mile before an officer used a stun gun on him, reports state.

According to police, Thomas had an open can of Natural Light inside his car. He was charged with having an open container, obstruction of an officer, driving while license suspended and having a tinted tag cover.
