Columbus police: Woman charged with loitering for purpose of prostitution

Columbus police arrested a 37-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon for loitering for the purpose of prostitution, reports state.

Cindy Hurst was arrested about 5 p.m. after an officer spotted her on Dawson Street, police said.

According to reports, an officer was patrolling 28th Avenue and Dawson Street in an unmarked police vehicle. He saw Hurst loitering in the area before she used a path to reach Alford Street.

The officer then drove by Hurst, who moved her head up and down, gesturing the officer to pull over. The officer stopped his vehicle, got out and spoke with Hurst, police said.

At that time, another officer checked police records and learned that Hurst was arrested in 2000 for prostitution and solicitation of sodomy. Police then arrested Hurst, reports state.
