Columbus police: Man accused of shoplifting meat by stuffing it under shirt, in pants

This isn’t your typical “meat and greet.”

In fact, the Saturday theft of various meats from Save-A-Lot put 54-year-old Darrell T. Anthony in jail with a felony theft by shoplifting charge, reports state.

According to police, a manager at the Hamilton Road grocery saw Anthony about 4 p.m. hiding different meats under his shirt and in his pants’ pockets. The manager then asked Anthony to stop. Instead, Anthony fled the store and was later found on 43rd Street with the missing meats.

Police say about $100 worth of meat was taken. All of it was recovered.
