Nothing was taken from Church’s Chicken on Fort Benning Road in a weekend burglary, Columbus police said.
The break-in happened between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Someone got inside the business by prying open the drive-thru window. Once inside, the suspect tried to open the store’s safe by hitting the safe handle with an unknown object, reports state.
The attempt to bust open the safe didn’t work. Instead, the handle broke off and nothing was taken from the store, police said.
Reports state $700 in damage was done to the safe and the business’ alarm system.
