The documentary “Hell and Back Again” will have to come back again later.

The film about the war in Afghanistan was to be screened Thursday at the Columbus Public Library, but the event has been postponed until further notice, the library announced today.

“Georgia Public Broadcasting will be announcing a new date in the near future,” wrote library spokesman Henry McCoy. “The library’s website www.cvlga.org will publicize the new date, once it is arranged.”

Nominated for an Academy Award, the film by Danfung Dennis follows a Marine platoon in Afghanistan in 2009, and tracks the travails of a wounded Marine who returns home feeling helpless, bored and increasingly reliant on painkillers. The war that left him injured then threatens his marriage, leaving him wishing he could return to the field of battle, where he felt he was in control of his life.
