Columbus State University's Jazz Band will present "Swing Bash" Thursday night.
It will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the Grand Lobby of RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway. Professional dancers will be demonstrating swing dancing. Patrons who want to can join in and dance.
People can be dressed in period clothing from the 1930s-'50s.
Refreshments will be served.
Then at 7:30 p.m. a Fort Benning Color Guard will present colors and march into Legacy Hall. Inside, the Jazz Band will play a jazzy version of the National Anthem.
The program will include swing hits from the 1930s-50s, including Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" and "Tuxedo Junction."
The Jazz Band is directed by Alexander Pershounin, the Schwob School of Music director of jazz studies and double bass professor.
