No one was injured in an early morning fire that damaged a vacant home on Benning Drive, authorities said.
Columbus Fire & EMS responded to 703 Benning Drive about 3:30 a.m. today. When they arrived, they found the vacant home on fire, said Battalion Chief Bryan Watson.
“When they showed up, they had heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the house,” Watson added.
It took about 10 minutes to control the blaze, the battalion chief added. Columbus Police Lt. Bill Orlich said damage to the home was moderate.
All police and fire units had left the scene by 6 a.m.
The home had no utilities going to it. The cause and origin of the blaze is unknown. The fire is under investigation, Watson said.
