Herbert R. McMaster Jr. tapped for command of Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning

Brig. Gen. Herbert R. McMaster Jr. has been tapped as the new commander of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning, Army officials say.

McMaster, a U.S. Military Academy graduate, will be promoted to major general. He’ll replace Maj. Gen. Robert B. Brown, who will be promoted to lieutenant general and be reassigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The change of command is scheduled for June 13.

McMaster will be the 53rd commanding general of Fort Benning and the third general officer to be commanding general of the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
