Columbus police: Shooting victim walks out of hospital while police are investigating

A man who was shot in the arm early today walked out of the hospital while detectives were investigating, Columbus police said.

A 26-year-old man arrived at Doctor's Hospital sometime after midnight with a gunshot wound to his left forearm, according to police. Detectives left the hospital to investigate at the scene, Sgt. Frank Massa said. When they came back a short time later, the man was gone, he said.

The shooting happened just after midnight today near 24th Street and Fifth Avenue, said Lt. Warren Dunlap.

“Some deputies heard several gunshots in the area,” Dunlap added.

There is no description of the shooting suspect.
