Robotics team to travel to St. Louis for world competition

A robotics consisting of students from three Muscogee County District Schools will be competing in an international competition April 25-28.

It is the World Championship for FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

The team, Columbus Corps 4188, consists of 15 students from Columbus High, three from Spencer High and one from Hardaway High. It is led by Luther Richardson, a physics instructor at Columbus High.

The team was given six week to design, build and program a robot that shoots a basketball. It did such a good job that it finished No. 20 out of 63 teams in the 10th Annual Georgia FIRST Robotics Peachtree Regional Competition in Duluth, Ga. March 15-17.

One of 18 rookie teams, it earned the right to go to the world competition by winning the Rookie All Star Award.
