Columbus police: Jockas Gilchrist, man wanted for multiple armed robberies, arrested in Florida

A man wanted for armed robbery of several stores in Columbus has been arrested in Jacksonville, Fla., police said.

Jockas Gilchrist was arrested at around 5:15 p.m. at a residence in Jacksonsville, after information was developed about his location, Columbus police Lt. Lynn Joiner said.

Gilchrist is wanted by Columbus police for the armed robbery of a CVS store in 2009, the recent robbery of a Winn-Dixie on Milgen Road and a recent attempted armed robbery at a Winn-Dixie on South Lumpkin Road.

Gilchrist is being held at the Duval County jail in Florida. He will be brought back to Columbus once extradition is approved, police said.

The arrest was a combined effort of the Columbus Police Department Fugitive Squad, the U.S. Marshal's based in Columbus and a U.S. Marshal Fugitive Unit in Jacksonville.
