Driver hits vehicle, pedestrian; later arrested at hotel

A driver who hit a vehicle and a pedestrian on Wednesday was arrested later that day at a hotel, Columbus police said.

Carlos Lozano, 49, is charged with hit-and-run, DUI, obstruction of an officer, duty to report an accident and improper backing, reports state.

Police say Lozano was at 3000 N. Lake Parkway, where there are a number of car dealerships, about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Lozano is accused of hitting a vehicle several times and then striking a pedestrian. He then ran from the scene and locked himself in a room at the nearby Hampton Inn, 7390 Bear Lane.

Police say they found Lozano, who smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was incoherent. He was then arrested.
