A 19-year old Columbus man died of a gunshot wound about 13 hours after he was found slumped over the wheel of a vehicle early Saturday at George Street and Brown Avenue.
Antonio Deshawn Robinson was transported in critical condition to The Medical Center after police found him slumped inside a Jeep Cherokee at 2:05 a.m., police said. Robinson was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the head at 3:10 p.m., said Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower.
It’s unknown where the shooting occurred, although the victim was found inside the vehicle, said Police Lt. Debra Bohannon.
The body will be transported today to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta. Thrower said it’s unknown how many times the victim was shot until an autopsy is performed.
“I really can’t say right now,” Thrower said late Saturday. “We are going to wait on the autopsy.”

Thrower said results of the autopsy should be available sometime today.
Police were busy late Saturday looking for clues in the shooting. Other than the victim’s name, police listed no information for an address. The vehicle was found near the rear of Piggly Wiggly on Brown Avenue. On the south side of the street is a boarded up brick home.
Police had no suspects in the death as the investigation continues.
It was second fatal shooting of a victim in a vehicle in the last week. Charles Willis III was shot April 13 inside his 2007 Chevy Cobalt on Lawyers Lane. Police identified a suspect in that shooting the next day.
