Airport Thruway Applebee’s robbed early today

The Airport Thruway Applebee’s was robbed early today, Columbus police said.

The robbery happened about 1:50 a.m. as the assistant manager was leaving for the night, said Lt. Bill Orlich.

“The assistant store manager was walking out to his vehicle and was accosted by a suspect with a gun and forced back inside,” Orlich added.

The gunman forced the manager to the restaurant’s office, where he took an undisclosed amount of cash before running from the scene. No shots were fired and no one was injured, the lieutenant said.

The suspect is a light-skinned black man who wore a red bandanna over his face. No other description was available, Orlich said.
