Suspect steals car, wrecks it seconds later

A man accused of stealing a Ford 350 from a Circle K Monday afternoon wrecked the truck seconds later, damaging a parked car and the convenience store in the process, Columbus police said.

Sedrick Darnell Fisher, 26, is charged with two counts of criminal damage to property and one count each of motor vehicle theft, striking an unattended vehicle and no state driver’s license, reports state.

Police say Fisher got behind the wheel of the running Ford 350 about 6 p.m. Monday at the 5448 Forrest Road convenience store. Fisher put the vehicle into drive and accelerated, striking a chain link fence, metal hand rails and a propane tank cage. He also struck a parked vehicle.

The arresting officer discovered that Fisher had no driver’s license, reports state.

Police list the damage to the store and the parked vehicle at more than $500 each.
