A celebration of the life of the late Virginia Spencer Carr is set for 4-6 p.m. May 11 in the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians, 1519 Stark Ave. The center and the Columbus State University Department of English are hosting the memorial.
Carr died on April 11 in Lynn, Mass., at age 82.
The remembrance service will be officiated by David Johnson, a retired CSU English professor and one of Carr's former colleagues.
She was a professor at CSU from 1969-85. She conducted intensive research and wrote about McCullers, which culminated in a biography, "The Lonely Hunter."
