Traffic stop leads to discovery of almost 2 ounces of pot

Columbus police arrested a teen early Friday after they found almost 2 ounces of marijuana during a traffic stop, reports state.

Taylor Pierson, 17, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug related objects, police said.

According to reports, Pierson was a passenger in a vehicle police stopped about 12:45 a.m. Saturday at Cougar Village Apartments, 4712 Milgen Road. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the car, which led to the discovery of one bag of marijuana weighing more than an ounce and 15 separate bags of the drug that together weighed just less than a half ounce.

The officer also discovered a digital scale in the vehicle, police said.

Pierson said the marijuana belonged to him, reports state.
