Columbus police are looking for a man accused of kidnapping a woman and a small child.
Charles Lamar Oakes, 39, is wanted for kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, as well as multiple drug charges, police said.
According to a news release, officers responded to a call at the Extended Stay America at 1721 Rollins Way, where they met with bondsman Richard Ward. Ward told police he was looking for Charles "Chuck" Oakes for a bond revocation. He said when Oakes saw him, he began to run and dropped a handgun and assorted illegal narcotics.
Oakes forced himself into a vehicle occupied by a female driver and a small child, police said. Investigators said Oakes forced the female to drive him to another location and exited the vehicle.
