Phenix City man indicted for statutory rape of runaway teen in Tennessee

A Phenix City man was indicted in Tennessee for the statutory rape of a 17-year-old runaway, the Kingsport Times-News reports.

The north Tennessee newspaper reports that Leonard Wayne Reed, 42, was indicted by a Sullivan County, Tenn. grand jury on three counts of statutory rape and one count of harboring a runaway juvenile.

The indictment stems from Reed admitting to having sex with a Phenix City girl “two or three times” in Kingsport, Tenn. and “a couple of times” in Phenix City, the Times-News states.

The teen told police she had sex with Reed in both Phenix City and Kingsport, the report states.

Police found Reed and the teen at a Kingsport hotel in October 2010, the Times-News reports.
