Columbus police charged a student Tuesday morning after a weapon was discovered at East Columbus Magnet Academy, officials said.
Administrators at the school got a tip about a 14-year-old student either having a weapon on him or somewhere on his possession. The student’s locker was then searched, which led to the discovery of an unloaded firearm and a ski mask, said Valerie Fuller, communications director with the school district.
Fuller said Columbus police were called to the school. Police reports state the student was then charged. Fuller declined to speak about the status of the student.
