Traffic backed up on J.R. Allen after SUV flips

Traffic was backed up in both directions on J.R. Allen Parkway after an SUV flipped in the road Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the one-car wreck occurred around 3:45 p.m. near the River Road exit. A driver of an SUV going westbound lost control of the car, crossed the median and hit the guard rail, Capt. J.D. Hawk said.

The driver was ejected and was taken to The Medical Center for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, Hawk said. Traffic was backed up on the roadway for about 30 to 40 minutes, but should be clear now, he said.
